Mathieu Gonidec

M. Gonidec was born in Clamart (France) on june 12, 1983. He attended the Fénelon and Lavoisier higher school preparatory classes in 2001 and 2002, respectively, and went on to attend the European School of Chemistry, Polymers and Materials Science in Strasbourg from which he graduated as a Chemical Engineer in 2006.

He also obtained a M. Sc. degree from the Louis Pasteur University in 2006. After spending 6 month under the guidance of Prof. Michael Chetcuti (organometallic chemistry), he moved to the Material Science Institute of Barcelona where he obtained a Ph.D. degree in 2010, under the supervision of Prof. Jaume Veciana and Prof. David B. Amabilino, working on multifunctional single-molecule magnets in the framework of a Marie Curie Early Stage Training Scholarship.

He moved to Harvard University in 2011 as a postdoctoral researcher in the George M. Whitesides group. In 2012, he obtained a Marie Curie postdoctoral fellowship to stay in the Whitesides group for a further 2 years.

In 2015 he joined the Switchable Molecules and Materials group at the Condensed Matter Chemistry Institute of Bordeaux thanks to the award of a 3 years Junior researcher scholarship from the french Excellence Initiative program, and since 2019 he is a tenured researcher, still at ICMCB in Bordeaux.
